Eight people were taken to the hospital after a transformer caught fire at an assisted living facility in southeast Denver, fire officials said.
The Denver Fire Department responded to the fire near Quebec Street and Smith Way at around 11:33 a.m., the agency said in a post on X. The transformer fire did not extend to other buildings.
Fire officials also reported an explosion in the building but did not say whether it was connected to the transformer fire.
Ten people were evaluated by paramedics and eight were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, fire officials said.
