Arson under investigation at Centennial senior living center

A fire that sparked at a senior living center in Arapahoe County on Thursday is under investigation as arson, sheriff’s officials said.

One person is in custody on investigation of arson charges in connection to the “suspicious” fire, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon.

Deputies and South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to the fire at the Centennial Crossings Senior Living Center around 6:45 a.m. Thursday, fire officials said. Investigators believe the fire started about fifteen minutes before crews arrived on scene.

The living center is off of Parker Road, just north of Arapahoe Crossings, at 15474 East Fair Place.

South Metro officials said the fire started in a unit on the fourth floor and was extinguished by the living center’s sprinkler system by 7 a.m. Flames did not spread to any neighboring apartments, but two units had water damage.

No one was injured in the fire, but three people were displaced, fire officials said.

Fire and sheriff’s officials did not say if one of the three people displaced was the person detained on suspicion of arson.
