Colorado road conditions: Heavy snow freezes traffic across Colorado, and more is on the way
CDOT warned that travel conditions could become “extreme to impossible” Friday and Saturday, expressing particular concern about I-70 east of Denver and I-25 south of Pueblo.
A winter storm could stifle travel across Colorado today and Saturday, closing roadways and threatening to make driving difficult or impossible on segments of interstates 25 and 70.
Colorado’s Department of Transportation warned that travel conditions could become “extreme to impossible” Friday and Saturday, expressing particular concern about I-70 east of Denver and I-25 south of Pueblo.
Snow will likely impact travel on I-25 over Monument Hill and I-70 between Denver and Idaho Springs from Friday evening through Saturday morning, the agency said.
According to CDOT, as of 7:20 a.m. Friday, current roadway closures include:
- I-70 eastbound and westbound, Airpark to Burlington
- I-25 southbound, Pueblo to the New Mexico state line
- U.S. 24 eastbound and westbound, Calhan to Limon
- U.S. 40 westbound, Cheyenne Wells to Limon
- U.S. 160 eastbound and westbound, U.S. 350 junction to the CO 389 junction
- U.S. 160 eastbound and westbound, Kim to the U.S. 385 junction
- U.S. 287 northbound, Wiley to Kit Carson
- U.S. 350 eastbound and westbound, Trinidad to La Junta
- CO 59 northbound and southbound, Yuma to Kit Carson
- CO 71 northbound and southbound, Last Chance to Punkin Center
- CO 86 eastbound and westbound, Kiowa to I-70
- CO 94 eastbound and westbound, El Paso County line to the U.S. 40 and 287 junction
- CO 109 northbound and southbound, La Junta to Kim
- CO 389 northbound and southbound, New Mexico state line to the US 160 junction
