Denver International Airport expects nearly 1 million Fourth of July travelers

Denver International Airport travelers can expect big crowds over the next two weeks, with nearly 1 million passengers anticipated to pass through security checkpoints for the Fourth of July holiday, airport officials said.
More than 878,000 passengers are expected to pass through DIA security checkpoints between Friday and July 9 during the airport’s busiest season, according to a news release.
The airport’s busiest days will likely be Friday, Sunday, July 7 and July 8, with more than 321,000 people expected at security checkpoints, DIA leaders said in a news release. That number would mean a nearly 5% increase from the same period last year.
Travelers should be inside the airport at least two hours before their boarding time and expect long security lines during peak times, including from 3 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., airport officials said Friday.
