Denver police working to contact suspect who may be barricaded amid shots-fire report

Denver police have closed streets in downtown and issued a shelter-in-place for the area while officers attempt to contact a suspect in a shots-fired report.

A shelter-in-place has been issued for part of the Central Business District neighborhood, including the intersection of 17th Street and Curtis Street, while police investigate a report of shots fired, according to a 10:35 a.m. X post by the Denver Police Department.

Officers closed streets in a one-block radius from the 1700 block of Curtis Street and the situation is under investigation, according to a 11:35 a.m. update from the department. The 1600, 1700 and 1800 blocks of Curtis are closed, as are the 16th, 17th and 18th streets from Arapahoe to Champa streets.

No injuries have been reported at this time, according to police.

Officers are working to contact someone suspected in the incident who may be barricaded, Denver police said at 12:24 p.m.
