A little over a month after introducing MySports, DirecTV Stream expanded its genre-specific packs to include entertainment and news with the new MyEntertainment and MyNews options. The live TV streaming service has also rolled out a Spanish-language MiEspañol package and the ability to tack cinema and sports extras onto some of the genre packages.
The new "skinny" genre plans — launched on February 27, 2025 — are the streaming industry's latest move into more niche (and less expensive) live TV streaming options. DirecTV Stream's expansion into genre packages began in January 2025 with the launch of MySports, which offers 25+ live sports-centric channels. The plan was initially only offered in 24 major metro areas, but it became widespread by the time the Super Bowl rolled around and is no longer listed as in "beta."
These genre packages cherry-pick channels from various traditional signature DirecTV Stream plans (which normally range in price from $86.99/month to $129.99/month). This way, users can benefit from some of the channels found in higher channel tiers without having to cough up any extra cash for genres they're not interested in.
Channel coverage varies by region, especially for local networks, so potential subscribers should look at the full run-down of available channels in their region before subscribing to ensure that they're getting everything they want.
Base genre packs
MySports
DirecTV Stream's first genre pack, MySports, is the most expensive of the bunch at $69.99/month. The package offers 25+ live channels with a sports focus, including ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, TNT, NHL Network, NFL Network, MLB Network, NBA TV, select college sports channels, and more. The pack also carries local channels, although coverage varies from region to region. NBC and FOX are available in most areas, but ABC coverage varies, and CBS appears to be missing from all genre packs. The MySports pack also has a few non-sports surprises, including CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, and Fox News. Notably, all MySports subscriptions get ESPN+ thrown in (regularly $11.99/month).
MyEntertainment
MyEntertainment costs $34.99/month and includes access to 40+ live entertainment and lifestyle channels, including Bravo, E!, Food Network, FX, HGTV, Lifetime, TLC, and more. Like MySports, the Entertainment pack also offers a few non-entertainment channels such as CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. All MyEntertainment subscriptions come with the Disney Duo Basic, a bundle (normally $10.99/month) that includes ad-supported versions of Disney+ and Hulu.
MyNews
MyNews costs $39.99/month and carries 10+ key news channels, including CNBC, CNN, Fox Business, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax, and more. Like MySports, local channel coverage is subject to your region (also like MySports, FOX, and NBC are available in many areas, while ABC is more variable and CBS isn't included).
MiEspañol
MiEspañol costs $34.99/month and has 60+ live Spanish-language channels in its lineup. The offerings include ESPN Deportes, Telemundo, TUDN, UniMas, Universo, Univision, and more.
Mini packs
MyCinema
MyCinema costs an extra $9.99/month and must be added to the MyEntertainment, MySports, or MyNews plans. The mini pack carries 7+ channels, including Family Movie Classics, Great American Family, GRIT, INSP, LMN, ShortsTV, Sony Movies HD, and TCM.
MySports Extra
MySports Extra costs an additional $12.99/month and can only be added to the MySports plan. The mini pack carries 5+ channels, including MAVTV, MotorTrend, NFL RedZone, Pursuit Channel, and Willow.
MyHome Team
MyHome Team costs an additional $19.99/month and must be added to the MySports pack. This new extra allows subscribers to add on local team coverage so they can access regional sports networks and games. Channels vary from region to region and are ZIP code dependent, so it's best to consult the DirecTV Stream website before subscribing to see what you can access in your area.
Pack add-ons
If you're still looking for something extra, genre pack subscribers can also add on additional streaming services through their DirecTV Stream subscriptions, including Max ($16.99/month), Cinemax ($10.99/month), STARZ ($10.99/month), MGM+ ($6.99/month), Fox Nation ($7.99/month), A&E Crime Central ($4.99/month), History Vault ($5.99/month), Lifetime Movie Club ($4.99/month), and Hallmark+ ($7.99/month).
