Evacuations lifted after firefighters contain Larimer County wildfire

A fast-growing wildfire that sparked west of Berthoud on Monday amid dry, hot weather and Red Flag warnings was fully contained as of 4 p.m.,  according to fire officials.

All evacuations were lifted for the fire near Dry Creek Reservoir in the 5300 block of West County Road 8E, said Andrew Kuiken with the Berthoud Fire Protection District.

The fire was reported around 1:40 p.m. and forced mandatory evacuations near Carter Lake Reservoir to the west, Homer and Windemere roads to the north, Dry Creek Reservoir to the south and North County Road 23 to the east, according to emergency responders.

The size and cause of the fire was not immediately available.
