Good morning, Colorado.

If you see a spot of red-and-black in the sea of orange-and-blue at this Sunday’s Broncos game, that might be yours truly rocking his Atlanta Falcons gear. Please don’t yell at me.

It’ll be my second visit to Mile High stadium, after seeing Foo Fighters there earlier this year. I appreciate how old-school and, frankly, rickety the stadium has become, as so many newer and personality-devoid stadiums are built across the country. I can see why Mile High is a jewel.

I know there are ideas about replacing it, which usually means at taxpayers’ expense. But as you’ll read today in Tamara Chuang’s report, the team is still working to keep the current stadium modern, with plans to give the team’s fans some of the fastest Wi-Fi in the NFL.

More on that, and the rest of today’s news, below.

The US Forest Service is planning to scale back operations in 2025 as it anticipates receiving less than it needs to pay its employees, manage its land and fight wildfires. One way it’ll cut back is by halting the hiring of seasonal employees, Jason Blevins reports. “We are not going to do everything that is expected of us with fewer people,” Forest Service Chief Randy Moore told employees earlier this year.

Just days after winning reelection, Democratic state Sen. Chris Hansen told The Sun’s Jesse Paul he plans to resign from the legislature Jan. 9, the day after Colorado’s 2025 lawmaking term begins. While Hansen plans to start a new job as CEO of La Plata Electric Association in Durango, the timing effectively prevents voters in District 31 from having a say in their state senator for another two years.

Empower Field at Mile High is planning to upgrade its stadiumwide Wi-Fi by the time the Browns visit Dec. 2. The team is hoping by then to turn on Wi-Fi 6E, making the internet much faster for fans to check their fantasy scores, place bets or angrily post about Myles Garrett getting another sack. Tamara Chuang toured the stadium, and tells us how the state-of-the-art tech will mean much more than just faster internet for fans.

GriTogether Micro-Food Festival. If your first thought based on that title is “what’s a micro-food?” then you’re exactly who organizers hope will show up. The evening festival and cooking competition was created to highlight small farms using regenerative agriculture to grow ancient grains like farro and new, sustainable grains like Kernza.

“I’m not a cook, so the idea of using farro or chickpeas or Kernza or rye is a little daunting,” said Elizabeth Candelario of Mad Agriculture, presenting sponsor of the event. “The whole spirit of it is to demystify these ingredients that are good for the world.”

Four chefs, including “Cutthroat Kitchen” and “Chopped” champion Cody Candelario and Joshua Olsen from Aspen Moon Farm, will create competing dishes featuring nutrient-packed grits made from farro. Attendees can talk with the chefs and taste each dish, before casting a vote for their favorite. Dry Lands Distillers, a small-batch distillery local to Longmont, will pour a signature rye-based cocktail, and the Deschutes Kernza lager will also be served.

There will be a short talk about regenerative agriculture and live music throughout the night. Use the code “MAD” at checkout for $15 off the ticket price.

$90; 6-10 p.m., Nov. 16; Lyons Farmette, 4121 Ute Highway, Lyons

And in other sports news, it broke this morning that Colorado skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is rejoining the U.S. Ski Team. More on that here.
