Man pleads guilty to second-degree murder in 2022 homicide in Aurora
Haskel Leroy Crawford, 40, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2022 killing of Karl Beaman Jr.

A man facing a first-degree murder charge linked to a 2022 death pleaded guilty to a lesser offense.
Haskel Leroy Crawford, 40, was arrested in 2023 on a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of Karl Beaman Jr. Aurora police received a Crime Stoppers tip and found Beaman’s body encased in concrete in a crawl space underneath a condominium in the 14600 block of East 2nd Avenue.
Beaman had been missing since the summer of 2022 before Aurora police discovered his body nearly a year later. Beaman and Crawford were described as friends, and the killing was attributed to an altercation between the two men, according to an arrest affidavit. Crawford reportedly suspected Beaman of being a police informant.
Crawford pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a hearing earlier this month. The first-degree murder charge was dismissed by the plea. Crawford is set to be sentenced on April 17.
