National Democrats Raising Money to Keep Virginia Legislature Blue in November

What price would you put on a constitutional amendment allowing abortion right up to the moment a baby is about to be born?  What about giving your local police the authority to conduct warrantless searches of your home simply because you are on a list of people who purchased a legal consumer product? Well, if you are in favor of those kinds of things, start in the seven figures range—more than a million dollars. In one state alone.

And that is just from one group hell-bent (pun intended) on passing the most liberal abortion law on Earth as well as strict gun control measures, and more. The national Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee has put together a target list of state races that they plan on investing heavily in because they discovered in the great “prosecutors purge”—paid for with money from George Soros, where law-and-order local prosecutors were replaced with liberals who refused to enforce the law—that more change can be effected more inexpensively at the local and state levels.

And guess what? On that list are the same four Virginia House of Delegates Districts we told you about last week. Del. Josh Thomas in Northern Virginia, Del. Joshua Cole in Fredericksburg, Del. Nadarius Clark from Suffolk, and Del. Michael Feggans from the Virginia Beach-Norfolk area.

Since Virginia is only one of two states that has off-year elections, national attention will be focused on the commonwealth this November as the Democratic Party tries to prove that voters are rejecting President Donald Trump and his policies by electing Democrats in Virginia.

Quoting from the memo that went out to the media on Monday: “Looking to November, the DLCC [Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee] anticipates some of the toughest battlegrounds to emerge in the Northern Virginia exurbs, the Capital region, and Southeast Virginia. We are already seeing our early investments pay dividends in preparation for these tough races. Last month, the House caucus launched its earliest-ever campaign.”

The announcement continues by promising “a five-figure ad buy targeting vulnerable opponents for supporting Trump’s policies.”

According to the Virginia Public Access Project website, the Virginia branch of the campaign committee alone has raised over $2.2 million, and it is promising to spend it.

The announcement also included this promise: The committee would be “unveiling an addition to the Target Map: the lieutenant governor’s race. This race will be highly competitive, and the victor will serve an important role in the state legislature as the tie-breaking vote in the Virginia Senate.”

The question is, can the Virginia Republicans muster any opposition to this kind of deep-pockets targeting? To date, according to data from Ballotpedia, the Republican State Leadership Committee has $30.5 million nationally.

Job No. 1 for the new Virginia Republican Party chair (who will be elected this Saturday) is convincing these national bankrollers that the Republicans are as serious about stopping this abortion amendment, gun bans, and the other far-left policies as the Democrats seem to be about getting them passed.
