One person seriously injured after 47-foot fall from chairlift at Keystone Resort
The individual sustained serious injuries in the fall, which the Tramway Safety Board said in a statement occurred on the Ruby Express chairlift near the third tower.
A person was airlifted from Keystone Resort after falling from a chairlift Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The 32-year-old man who fell appeared to be attempting to adjust his snowboard bindings, according to the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board.
The individual sustained serious injuries in the fall, which the Tramway Safety Board said in a statement occurred on the Ruby Express chairlift near the third tower. Under Colorado law, the Tramway Safety Board investigates any death or injury related to a possible malfunction of a passenger tramway such as a chairlift.
The man – who was wearing a helmet – momentarily hung onto the armrest of the chairlift before falling about 47 feet at around 12:45 p.m., according to the Safety Board. Remaining passengers were reportedly unloaded from the lift, which was then closed to the public for an investigation, before reopening around 2:50 p.m.
