Vance Slams the Left’s Calls for Reputed Gang Member’s Return to US

Vice President JD Vance took aim yesterday at the some in the legacy media and on the far Left for demanding the return of illegal alien Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States from his home country of El Salvador, where he is currently imprisoned.

The president of El Salvador said in a press conference on Monday with President Donald Trump that he would not be returning Abrego Garcia, who has been accused of being an MS-13 gang member, to the United States. 

“When the media and the far Left obsess over an MS-13 gang member and demand that he be returned to the United States for a *third* deportation hearing, what they’re really saying is they want the vast majority of illegal aliens to stay here permanently,” Vance said in a post on X.

The vice president raised concerns that the Trump administration would not be able to deport millions of illegal aliens in the country if the far Left had its way.

“Here’s a useful test: Ask the people weeping over the lack of due process what precisely they propose for dealing with Biden’s millions and millions of illegals. And with reasonable resource and administrative judge constraints, does their solution allow us to deport at least a few million people per year?” he wrote.

Vance mused that the people who reject the authority of the Trump administration to deliver on its mandate from the American people do not actually support ending the border crisis.

“They don’t want border security. They don’t want us to deport the people who’ve come into our country illegally. They want to accomplish through fake legal process what they failed to accomplish politically: The ratification of Biden’s illegal-migrant invasion,” the vice president contended. 

Vance stated that he and the president would not allow former President Joe Biden’s invasion to stand. 

Responding to a critic of his post, Vance reiterated that the Trump administration was facing an avalanche in paperwork in order to enforce American law.

“You say immigration courts adjudicate in minutes. Sometimes. How many minutes? And how much background work is necessary before an immigration hearing? And add the times for appeals, first administratively and then judicially. Add asylum claimants, [Temporary Protected Status] revocations, and any number of other ways the Left has used to game the immigration system over the last decade,” the vice president said. 

Experts in immigration enforcement acknowledge that the process to deport a single person can take months or years.

Vance highlighted the fact that even before Biden opened the U.S. borders, the immigration system in the United States was overwhelmed. 

“Are you aware that years before Biden’s migrant wave, this system was already overwhelmed? Now, you cavalierly assume that they can ‘rocket docket’ themselves into a solution despite all actual evidence to the contrary, because sometimes a deportation order can be handled in ‘minutes,’” the vice president explained to an X user. 

Vance further argued that refusing to promptly deport illegal aliens amounted to essentially legalizing their presence in the country. He also noted the contradiction in saying that it was easy to deport illegal aliens while simultaneously demanding the return of an illegal alien who had been returned to his country of origin.

“The further absurdity is that everyone is losing it over a guy who had two separate hearings and had a valid deportation order. People cannot, on the one hand, freak out over a valid deportation order and on the other hand say, ‘Well, actually it’s easy to deport.’ Not if we did it your way!” Vance noted.
“I’m sick of abstract bull—- arguments. What your proposal does, whether you know it or not, is ratify the presence of millions of illegals aliens in our country. I reject that,” he concluded.
