Good news! Wicked is finally streaming, four months after it first hit theaters. We've put together everything you need to know about the movie, including where to watch Wicked, what the trailer looks like, and when the sequel is scheduled to premiere.
Wicked: Part One is the first half of the planned adaptation of the beloved musical, which first made waves on Broadway in 2003. The story, adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. The movie musical chronicles the story of the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) and Glinda the Good (Galinda) in their early college years at Shiz University. The pair, originally reluctant roommates, developed a deep friendship, forever altered by their encounter with the Wizard of Oz.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande star in the film, giving critically acclaimed performances that earned both actresses Oscar nods. Nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, the John M. Chu-directed film's cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum, among others.

How to watch Wicked from anywhere
Fans traveling outside the US can still watch the movie with the help of a VPN. Short for virtual private networks, VPNs are cybersecurity tools that enable people to change their virtual location so apps and websites work just like they would back home. This option will work best for Americans who are simply abroad since the services we've highlighted today require US payment methods. ExpressVPN is our go-to recommendation. The user-friendly app has a 30-day money-back guarantee and a suite of cybersecurity perks, which you can read about in our ExpressVPN review.
Wicked trailer
Universal Pictures released a couple of trailers ahead of Wicked's official release. The first official trailer, which you can check out below, follows Elphaba and Galinda's full journey, from their early days as frenemies at Oz to their burgeoning friendship and trip to meet the Wizard.
Wicked: Part Two
The second Wicked film, now titled Wicked: For Good, was filmed back-to-back with Part One, so fans won't have to wait ages to see the follow-up. The second film is scheduled for a November 21, 2025 release, so viewers can expect to watch the movie later this year as long as they don't mind heading to a theater.
