Warning, major spoilers ahead for "The Perfect Couple."

Gripping murder mystery "The Perfect Couple" got Netflix subscribers talking with the tale of a wealthy crime writer and her husband throwing a lavish wedding for their son and future daughter-in-law.

On the morning of her nuptials, bride-to-be Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is devastated when she finds the body of her maid of honor, Merritt Monaco (Meghann Fahy), on the beach near the Winbury's home on Nantucket Island.

As Amelia tries to uncover who killed her best friend, what she learns makes her realize she doesn't fit in with her future husband, Benji Winbury (Billy Howle), and his family.

It's slowly revealed that Merritt was pregnant with Tag's baby, and Benji's heavily pregnant sister-in-law Abby (Dakota Fanning) drowned the maid-of-honor so that the family's inheritance wouldn't be diluted by another Winbury sibling.

Although the miniseries features a different ending to the book, it leaves things open in the final episode.

Does that mean Netflix is eyeing up "The Perfect Couple" season two? Here's what to know.

Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber are keen to return for "The Perfect Couple" season two.

Netflix always billed the show as a miniseries, but the cast is seemingly keen to return for a second season.

When speaking to USA Today, Nicole Kidman (Greer Winbury) and Schreiber (Tag) expressed an interest in exploring the couple's dynamic in a new season.

Kidman said: "Wait and see, I think it's ripe," adding: "When you see the final episode and she sort of says, 'Listen, let's just say it like it was,' that was really fun actually, to be able to do that, just rip the Band-Aid off. I think there's still an enormous amount of history and an enormous amount of future."

Schreiber added: "They're taking a break for now, but who knows?"

Meanwhile, showrunner Jenna Lamia told Town & Country: "If all the elements came together and everybody was enthusiastic and the idea was inspiring enough to gather the same group of talented people together again, I think it's something that's possible.

"I would never say it's impossible. There are definitely questions left at the end. The best shows — regardless if they're going to do another season — leave you thinking after you've watched the final one."

The real question is how successful "The Perfect Couple" season two would be without the safety of existing source material to fall back on.
